Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Do I have to come into your office for a consultation?

We certainly like seeing our prospective clients in person, and sometimes that is a necessity.   However, there are other times that telephonic conferencing or video conferencing will work just fine. We provide prospective clients telephone, Skype, and FaceTime consultations if requested. If you would like a consultation by telephone, Skype or FaceTime, just let us know when you contact us. However, for any felony criminal case, any initial consultation must be in-person given the need for the most highly confidential setting to discuss case facts.

Do you have evening and weekend appointments?

Yes!  Our regular office hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  We occasionally leave early on Fridays to make up for time spent after hours throughout the week, so it is best to call ahead on Fridays.  We offer evening appointments and weekend appointments to better serve our clients who work full-time during regular business hours.  If you need an after hours appointment, just let us know when you call -- 813-438-8708.

How long has Windy L. Wilkerson been an attorney?

Approximately 16 years.  Windy L. Wilkerson graduated from Florida State University College of Law with honors in 2001, passed the bar exam on her first try, and has been a licensed attorney ever since.

Do you speak Spanish?

Legal Assistant Dalila Quinones and Paralegal Stephanie Rivera are both fluent in Spanish.  The only Spanish that Windy L. Wilkerson knows are futbol phrases she learned playing in a futbol league in Dover, Florida -- Cambia el portero!  However, she is able to assist Spanish-speaking clients with the help of Dalila and Stephanie.

Do you accept credit cards?

Of course!  Wilkerson Law Firm, P.A. accepts all major credit cards.  You can pay by cash, check or credit card and you can even send payment via PayPal.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes, we do.  Given the nature of legal services, it is necessary to put forth a good faith initial payment, but if you do not have all of the payment up front, we are more than happy to work with you.

What are your rates?

Rates vary based on a number of factors such as the type of case, the complexity of the case, the type of assignment (transaction/drafting or litigation) etc.    There are some simple matters (wills, no contest divorces, summary probates)  for which we have fixed rates, and we are working on adding those rates to our webpage. Additionally, there are some cases, such as injury cases, that we can accept on a contingency fee basis, which means we only get paid if you get paid. In most instances, it is best to have a consultation, at which time an estimate can be given.

Do you offer jail visits for persons in custody?

Wilkerson Law Firm, P.A. does offer consultations at the Hillsborough County Jail free of charge for prospective clients who are in custody.   Out-of-county jail visits in surrounding counties require a $50.00 fee up front for the associated time and travel.   The fee will be credited toward any future payment if Wilkerson Law Firm, P.A. is retained.
